Hello all!
Welcome to the first issue of “Thought Box”. I am really happy to see you all and hope that I will provide you some inspirational newsletter to kick start your week.
Before we jump to our issue I’d like to explain the concept of this newsletter.
Imagine you are drawing a imaginary box in your head. What do you need? Come, draw with me! ⬆️-➡️-⬇️-⬅️ There she is! But let me explain a little bit:
⬆️: My mood risers
➡️: Things that I am looking forward
⬇️: Things that are pulling me down
⬅️: Throwback to some inspirational quotes
Each newsletter will have all these four arrows to complete my thought box for that week. I hope you are ready for this week’s. Without further ado, let’s start!
⬆️ Great results in my weight loss journey
Starting with the obvious thing: I am overweight. But I decided to take control my healthy and started working on it. The worst thing was preparing food or deciding what to eat, which was pushing me towards over-eating - or even worse, eating out.
125.0 was some kind of an imaginary barrier to me. As you can see on the graph, I was always going back and forth in 125. But this time, I am very determined and focused on my goals. So after doing great work with my dietitian and my wife’s support, I managed to lose 5 kilos in 2 weeks! 🎉
Every Monday, it is a new start and weigh-in day for me. Chances are while you are reading this issue, I will be looking for my results for last week. The mental barrier is going under 120 kilos. I hope, I achieved that.
Let me know if you want to hear more about my weight loss journey or the Notion template that I created! 🍀
➡️ LOOOOOTS of idea and building habits
Exciting things are now in horizon. With this weight loss journey, actually I am committing a lot of new stuff as well. This newsletter is also one of the product of this journey as well. My diet requires high discipline and commitment. As James Clear said in Atomic Habits, I will try to stack my new habits on top my diet habit and keeping the discipline.
While my diet is going strong, I will use the same discipline to stack some more new habits and ideas on top it. Good things on the horizon. I started being more active on Twitter - check out if you want to hear more from me! For the near future, I will be spending more time on:
Renewing my website and sharing more content
Focusing on my Software Engineer skills to build an iOS apps
Let’s see how these will work in the future, but I can assure you that you will hear about these a lot from me. I really want to achieve these in here, with you.
⬇️ Are we getting better at all?
These recent years were very tough on humanity, for some even harder. Coronavirus, war, shortages etc. But somehow humanity is adjust themselves and move on. Unfortunately, while some people got ever richer, most of the people actually got poorer. I know it by heart. It’s not a secret that inflation is crazy high back in Turkey. We are talking about, like, above 100% inflation rates1.
I just saw an article on NRK couple days ago. It was talking about the increased food prices and planned salary developments. According to NRK2, food product prices increased 11.5%. Meanwhile, predicted salary increases are sitting at 3.9%.
So that got me thinking, are we getting richer or just trying to be break even compared to last year? Or worse, are we getting poorer, while putting more effort?
I will try to write some thoughts about finance and investing in my website. If you are interested in these topics, keep your 👀 on the new blog posts in my blog.
⬅️ Throwback time: Top quote from last week
Since I spend more and more time for building online presence, I can see that everyone is selling some kind service, or gurus of some kind shares of some wisdom online. Don’t get me wrong, I am totally amazed with some people sharing crazy valuable lessons online for free. I also consume lots of these free wisdom and try to adapt to myself.
..try to adapt to myself. Let’s focus on that more that we were doing. While each an every parameter is different between person to person, how we can assume that there is a one-size-fits-all solution for all our problems. The important thing is to read, filter, inspired and adapt to our daily lives to fit our needs.
Soon, I will post a new blog post about how I remember the quotes from blog and getting inspired from the things I read before. Believe me, you will like that! ❤️🎁
